Miranda Rights
Miranda Rights are basically rights given to a person that has been placed under arrest by any law enforcement agencies. Many a time have Miranda Rights been misconceived and issued incorrectly or not at all to a suspect under arrest. Within this document you will find the relevant information about the basics of the rights and when they should be given.
What are the 'Miranda Rights'?
Miranda Rights, also known as a Miranda Warning, is where law enforcement give suspects in police custody the right to remain silent. The official wording of the Miranda Rights are as follows;
"You have the right to remain silent.
Anything you say can and will be used you in a court of law.
You have the right to an attorney.
If you cannot afford one, one will be provided for you.
Do you understand the rights I have just read to you?"
Unless you are the one asking the questions, you should not issue this final statement. If you are however, you should ask the following question to see if the suspect is willing to work with you;
"With these rights in mind, do you wish to speak to me?"
What happens if the suspect does not understand their rights?
In cases of which suspects do not understand their Miranda Rights after being asked "Do you understand the rights I have just read to you?". If the person being placed under arrest, and is to be interrogated claims that they do not understand their rights, the present LEO will repeat the Miranda Warning but will not ask if they understand them or not - you are not required to repeat yourself again after telling them a second time.
What happens if I don't read their rights?
For the majority of circumstances where rights are required we hope that officers correctly issue them, but in cases of which rights are not read - evidence may become in-admissible and not be used against the suspect. If a conversation is recorded of a suspect answering questions about their alleged crime and evidence is gathered from the said conversation, if rights have not been read all evidence may be dropped depending on the circumstances.
For example, if someone is taken in for DUI, not a lot of evidence is taken after the person has been put into custody. On the other hand, if there is a case on murder, if the suspect is in custody and have not received their Miranda prior to interrogation - and evidence is provided during interrogation that proves the murder, the case may be dismissed. Or, the evidence may be excluded from the case and without the evidence, the case would be dismissed.
Partner Dynamics
Partner dynamics are very important, they can make us both, communicative and efficient. While one person is concentrated on the driving part, the other one is able to report for backup, as well as give a brief description of the situation.
Drivers Duties
The driver needs to always be concentrated on the road. He will not leave the cruiser unless there are shots being fired and immediate assistance is required - this is mainly for scenarios where we are dealing with non compliant suspects that try to make a run for it, if the driver is in the car, we'll save time and will have a better chance at keeping the visibility on the suspect. The driver will also be responsible for the maintenance of the vehicle, as well as he's responsible of both, his own and his partners safety.
Passengers Duties
The duty of the passenger is mainly to use the radio while patrolling. He is to report both, his and his partners status, any kind of status change as well as any 10 code when in a car chase. He will also be the one to request for backup in case its needed. The passenger will also be the one to perform for traffic stops and other similar scenarios.
At the beginning of each shift, the Highest Ranked Officer needs to split Officers into teams of two. If the number of on-duty officers is odd, then there can be three officers in one cruiser and decide who would take on the passenger duties. under no circumstances will an officer patrol by himself if there are other officers available - this should result in a strike towards that said person.
Vehicle Maintenance
You must always keep Government Vehicles at the minimum of 50% fuel at all times. If you get into a chase, you must be able to keep up with the suspect for as long as the duration of the chase take. If you are low on fuel and you are in pursuit of someone, report it over dispatch, this way another Officer can take lead of the chase as you refuel.
Central Dispatch Radio
Being connected to the Central Dispatch (( TeamSpeak 3 )) while on duty is obligatory. If you are not connected while you are on duty you had better have a decent reason or you may receive Internal Affairs infraction strikes for it. When you are connected you should stay in the Main Dispatch Radio Channel to be assigned to a Unit or you can assign yourself with somebody. When assigned, you must move to the Unit Channel with your patrol partner so you can talk without constant chatter when separated. You should always have a secondary Radio button for contacting all other Units in emergencies. (( Whisper Hotkey ))
You must also have a patrol partner at all times, unless instructed otherwise - Cadets may never patrol together or alone.
Chain of Command
If you are a Cadet, you are in your position for one reason, to obtain a better understanding of how the Police Department works. If somebody is a higher rank than you and tells you something, you had better do it. As a Cadet you may feel like you know everything there is to know. Trust us, you don't.
Keep in mind, once you screw around at any rank then chances are you will be removed. Respect everyone in the Police Department, no matter what their rank is.

Everyone can now freely access all the patrol channels of the LSPD. If you want the password for the private rooms, contact their respective owners. Every LSPD members must have the LSPD group in teamspeak. Ask a teamspeak admin to set your group. Being connected into TeamSpeak is mandatory.
Forum Name
This is commonly asked within the LSPD: How can I get a blue name on the forums? This question requires a simple solution: apply for the LSPD group in the usergroups section, which can be found here. Getting accepted into the LSPD group entitles you to a blue forum name, along with access to the private LSPD forums.
NOTICE: When you apply for the user-group, always include your in-game LSPD name along with your rank, otherwise you will likely be denied. If you are no longer an active member of the LSPD, we would like to ask that you remove yourself from the user-group, or identify yourself under another group if possible. Either option can be accomplished from the above link. Also keep in mind that if your forum name doesn't match your in game name you may also be denied. It is recommended that you post in the admin requests section of the forums to get a forum name change to match your in game name.

Internal Affairs
To file a complaint/infraction on another member of the L.S.P.D. please PM the Chief/Deputy about it.
Clarifications relating to Internal Affairs:
There has been some misgivings relating to internal Affairs, specifically their powers and abilities.
Internal Affairs is and always has been a separate entity from the LSPD's main body. Although they generally have rank two or three in-game, OOCly they are in fact unlisted ranks. In essence, IA officers have no authority over LSPD units excluding in matters of Internal Security, stability, and in all matters of IA investigation, also the same applies in reverse. However, since IA Officers are also kept secret from everybody but the Director and the Chief's they will follow orders unless they are working on an IA case, in which case they will not be required to follow that. Also note that only one Captain and one Sergeant will be in the IA and these people will be public and also able to give/take orders, unless the orders taken are in conflict with the IA.
They are both above and below the authority of all ranks but the Chief(s) and the divisional leader of the Internal Affairs department. As the Chief is immune to infractions as is the IA Commander.
Deputy Chiefs and below are however not immune to Internal Affairs jurisdictional matters and can receive infractions. Although this as far as I can recall has never happened, yet it is possible.
IA officers although generally are shall we say keeping an eye on things during quiet times it has been permitted to assist in patrols, pursuits or respond to crimes. Although that is not their focus.
IA officers are able to use LSPD cars if desired along with civilian cars.
IA is not here to mess up your day or get you into trouble, generally it was established to point out officer mistakes and offer advice. We're not here for a witch hunt and unless a serious accusation or suspicion is relevant. We generally don't follow you around. You don't need to be so concerned when there's an IA operative around.

Pertaining to Lawyers
I'm sure all of you have noticed how Lawyers tend to come and go as they please in the PD and don't usually RP the job. Well, I've devised a few steps to control some of this chaotic and Non-RP behavior.
Step 1: Ask them for "documents" (( /showlicenses )).
Step 2: Have them get against the wall, then frisk them. If he/she possesses a legal weapon, ask him/her to surrender it to the counter and retrieve it later. If he/she possesses an illegal weapon, do the necessary actions.
Step 3: Ask for the client's name.
Step 4: Have the Lawyer wait outside the door and go check for their client in the cells.
Step 5: If client is present, alert them that their Lawyer has arrived, if not then have the Lawyer leave the PD.
Step 6: Go escort the Lawyer in, to the Cells. After, wait for the two to role-play the situation and do not allow the Lawyer to lower more than one person's time.
Step 7: After the Lawyer is done with their client escort him out of the building, and the client if he/she has been released from jail.
